Skip Cooking Dinner!

Please join us November 13 from 4 – 8pm at Lynnwood Brewing Concern for our pre-kickoff event to learn more about the Foundation and how we support Underwood. Meet our board members and other Underwood families all while enjoying scratch made eats, tasty beverages and best of all no dishes to wash! Plus for each beer purchased Lynnwood will donate $1 to the Foundation.

Our official campaign will begin on Giving Tuesday – November 27, but this year we have an early bird special!  All donations made by November 27th will be entered to win dinner for four at the fabulous Capital Club 16!  Any donation of any amount, recurring or one-time, enters you for a chance to win!

Can’t make the event – not a problem – you can make a donation anytime via our website or by picking up a donor card at the school’s front desk.

We want you to know….

We are ready for another great year at Underwood!

Part of what makes our school so amazing are the teachers and programming. The Underwood Foundation was formed to protect those things. Our mission is to help give our school the financial flexibility to keep all our teachers and programming in place, despite changes in budgets.

You will be hearing a lot from us over the coming weeks but ahead of that there are some important dates we want you all to know…..

September 6th – Between 6 and 6:30 during Open House, you will have an opportunity to learn all about the Foundation and our mission during a special session.  Even if you know who we are come stop by and support as we begin the year.

October 31st – While our giving campaign won’t officially kick off until Giving Tuesday, November 28th , this year we are promoting an early bird special offer! We have a special drawing to win dinner for four at the fabulous Capital Club 16! Simply donate by October 31 st to be entered into the drawing. Any donation of any amount, recurring or one-time, enters you for a chance to win!

November 13th – Pre-Giving Tuesday kick off this year will be held at Lynwood Brewing Concern at 1053 E Whitaker Mill Rd.  From 4 pm to 8 pm (+)  for each beer purchased Lynwood will donate $1 to the Foundation.  Come have a beer or two with family and friends – even bring the kids there will be a food truck for dinner!

What a year!

It’s hard to believe but there only three weeks left in the school year! Where has all the time gone?!?!?!

As we finish up the 2017-2018 year we want to take a second and thank all of our sponsors and donors for their amazing generosity.  You are all rock stars! THANK YOU for helping us continue the Unicorn pride.

Our end of the year Gala was tremendous success as we continued to increase in numbers in attendance as well as money raised.  We have already started planning next years so STAY TUNED!

As you may or may not know the Foundation’s mission is simple – help give our school administrators the financial flexibility to keep all those teachers and assistants in place and so we do not have to start cutting classes like so many other schools are forced to do.  The PTA by law is not allowed to supplement salaries, so that is why we the foundation was created.

We do realize this is a private school type ask; however it is a necessary one and one we hope you will see the value in and that you will consider donating towards.

We have a saying at the Foundation – When YOU give Our Children Get! They get dance, band, drama, Spanish, gym classes and so much more.  If you have not donated please consider doing so.  We welcome donations of any denomination and have also set up a way for you to spread it out over time via a recurring payment.  Just set it and Forget it!

A recent article posted on shared a very telling story depicting just how far behind NC trails in proper funding of our schools.  We rank 43rd in the nation in per-pupil funding.  That’s $3,000 below the national average!!! The need to support our schools and our teachers has never been greater.
